2021 Freezer Challenge

Running annually until July 1, the International Laboratory Freezer Challenge has hosted thousands of labs from 195 countries and saved 9.9 million kWh of energy since 2017. Participating labs gain points for completing actions in categories that include management practices and temperature tuning.

For 2021, JHU is offering an internal award of $5,000 to $10,000 for the top three participating labs. To sign up, register on the event website and be sure to list "Johns Hopkins University" as the institution at signup (not "JHU" or "Johns Hopkins").

If you have any questions, feel free to email James Leatherman at jleathe3@jhmi.edu or Ryan Weeks at rweeks3@jhu.edu of the Sustainability Leadership Council's Green Labs Working Group.
