2021 Freezer Challenge

Coordinated by My Green Lab and the International Institute for Sustainable Laboratories (I2SL), the International Laboratory Freezer Challenge is a competition to reduce the environmental impact of cold storage through efficient and effective sample storage. Running annually from Jan. 1 to July 1, the freezer challenge has hosted thousands of labs from 195 countries and saved 9.9 million kWh of energy since 2017.

Participating labs gain points for completing actions in categories that include management practices and temperature tuning. For 2021, JHU is offering an internal award of $5,000 to $10,000 for the top three participating labs.
