Michael Tan, a researcher at Johns Hopkins University School of Education, is currently conducting a study on the experience of East Asian international students during the COVID-19 pandemic, titled "Examining the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on East Asian international students in the United States" (Institutional Review Board reference number: HIRB00011837, PI: Dr. Yiying Xiong). The study team is recruiting eligible participants for a 60-minute interview to talk about the challenges, feelings, and thoughts, coping, and support during the COVID-19 pandemic. The interview will be audio-recorded but will be kept confidential by our study team. We are hoping to recruit 12-15 participants for this study. Eligible participants will receive a $10 Amazon gift card for completing the full interview.
If you are interested in participating in this study, please complete the survey here to check your eligibility. It will take no more than 2 minutes to complete. No identifying information will be collected in this survey. You will be asked whether you give us permission to contact you through email if you are eligible to participate, and you may enter your email address if you do.
Compensation is $10.
You will receive a notice about your eligibility after you complete the survey. The survey will indicate your eligibility for participation, and provide you further instructions on how to enroll in this study if you are eligible.
Although you may not benefit directly from your participation, we are hoping to use our findings of this study to bring public awareness of the unique set of challenges East Asian international students have to face during this time of crises, and inspire service and support from universities and colleges that properly address these issues.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to Michael Tan at firstname.lastname@example.org or contact the principal investigator, Dr. Yiying Xiong, at email@example.com to learn more about the details of this study and how to participate.
