Did you know that people who have close relationships at home, work, or in their community tend to be healthier and live longer? One reason, according to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, is that we're more successful at meeting our health goals when we join forces with others.
NHLBI has launched the #OurHearts movement to inspire us to protect and strengthen our hearts with the support of others. Join the movement, and tag #OurHearts to share what you're doing with friends and family to be heart-healthy together.
And whether you are working from home or onsite, encourage your family and colleagues to participate in National Wear Red Day on Feb. 5 to bring more awareness to heart health. Also make time from 4:30 to 5 p.m. on Feb. 9 for Healthy Hearts, a 30-minute workshop that combines basic education about risk factors with information on the simple lifestyle changes needed to maintain a healthy heart for life. Register here.
Another way to support heart health this February is by learning about high blood pressure. Join the workshop Blood Pressure: A Vital Force for Life from 10 to 11 p.m. on Feb. 2 to hear about the importance of healthy blood pressure, risk factors for high blood pressure, and how to take control of the risks.
