Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the Johns Hopkins community, over the past nine years, more than 4,500 Baltimore City Public Schools students have each received two new uniforms through the university's Adopt-a-Student Uniform Drive.
BCPS has not yet announced opening plans for the fall 2020 academic year, but Johns Hopkins remains committed to assisting families whose students will need uniforms when they are required.
It has been shown that wearing new uniforms helps students build confidence and allows them to better focus on classwork. And Baltimore City Public Schools reports that access to uniforms is linked to improved attendance rates.
The Johns Hopkins Adopt-a-Student Uniform Drive was established in 2011 to assist families in purchasing the uniforms required for elementary, middle, and high school students. In partnership with BCPS, Johns Hopkins works with a vendor to establish a cost of $40 for two uniforms.
How to Help
You can adopt one or more students by going to the Adopt-a-Student Donation Page on the Benefits & Worklife website. To select a contribution amount, click the Donate button. Credit cards are accepted.
The deadline to sponsor a student is Friday, Aug. 21.
