The Johns Hopkins Center for Global Health announces the launch of a new virtual seminar series, Women in Global Health: Exploring Non-Academic Careers. This is the inaugural session, with Leslie Mancuso, president and CEO of Jhpiego, as the speaker.
A nurse and American Academy of Nursing Fellow, Mancuso is a recognized international business leader with a track record of success in bringing accountability and navigating changes in the international nonprofit world. She has more than 30 years of experience in developing public/private partnerships with organizations such as ExxonMobil, Chevron, Laerdal Medical, GE Foundation, USAID, Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Mancuso oversees Jhpiego's long-standing and extensive relationships with international agencies; foreign governments and ministries of health; nursing, midwifery, and medical schools; professional associations; and local nongovernmental organizations.
Mancuso serves on numerous boards, including the Life Science Innovation Forum of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation Organization, and the board of directors of the World Trade Center Institute. She is a passionate advocate for the nursing profession, lending her expertise to the advisory council of the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing as well as Sigma Theta Tau International's visionary Global Advisory Panel on the Future of Nursing & Midwifery (GAPFON). GAPFON includes some of the world's most prominent nurse leaders and is tasked with identifying global health care issues, specifically noting those related to a voice and vision for nursing and developing corresponding solutions that would effectively address them.
