Odyssey: 'The Yellow Wallpaper'

Charlotte Perkins Gilman (1860-1935) endured a great depression after the birth of her daughter, compounded by the diagnosis of postpartum depression and the adherence to the rest cure. A dramatic reading of her fictionalized version of her plight, 'The Yellow Wallpaper,' will be performed by Professor Colleen Webster. A discussion of postpartum depression and the rest cure, including treatments today, will follow.
