An in-depth approach to writing for children and teens designed to address the needs of both the beginner and the more experienced writer. Through a combination of lessons, exercises, and workshops, students will hone their craft with detailed study of the elements of fiction and a closer look at what makes children's literature exciting, enduring, and fun. From picture books through young adult novels, this course will help students take their writing to the next level. In addition to class exercises and activities, students will work with the instructor to create an individualized learning plan designed to address their writing goals.
