Homewood Recycling recently updated the Homewood Zero Waste Events Planning Guide and the JHU Preferred Green Caterers list. You can download a copy of both here.
These resources can help you plan zero waste events for your department. A zero waste event does not mean an event that produces no waste; rather it is an event that produces no waste that goes to the incinerator. Everything discarded at the event is either composted or recycled.
On the Homewood campus, all waste management fees associated with zero waste events are waived—be green and save green! Furthermore, by hosting a zero waste event, your department is helping to reduce JHU's carbon footprint and supporting, healthier nonpolluted air for Baltimore.
The JHU Preferred Green Caterers list is a group of vetted caterers that have promised to provide JHU events with only compostable guest service ware so that your events will be zero waste. The updated list now has nearly 30 caterers, and 15 of them are HopkinsLocal vendors.
