The Center for Social Concern is sponsoring a workshop, titled Community as a Contested Concept, to discuss university/community partnerships through the theme of "sense of community." The event is scheduled from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, in Charles Commons East Room (304).
The workshop will explore different conceptualizations of community; differentiate between community membership and being of the community; understand why the sense of community theory should be challenged; and explore issues of power when building university community partnerships.
RSVP to stocks3@jhu.edu if you'd like to attend. Dinner will be provided. Please note any dietary restrictions.
