The Diversity Postdoctoral Alliance Committee invites you to attend the fourth annual Excellence in Diversity Symposium from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, in the Turner Concourse at the Johns Hopkins East Baltimore campus. This event is a Johns Hopkins University collaborative effort funded by the JHPDA and is open to all faculty and trainees in the schools of Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, Engineering, and Arts & Sciences. Please visit the EiD website for details.
The purpose of the event is to showcase the excellence of Johns Hopkins University underrepresented minority (URM) scholars in a broad range of scientific disciplines. The symposium will focus on the outstanding achievements of scholars from underrepresented backgrounds and will feature plenary sessions, scientific presentations, and networking opportunities.
URM trainees at all levels are invited to submit abstracts, which will be considered for oral and poster presentations. The best scientific abstracts will be selected for oral presentations and will be given travel awards. Poster prizes will also be awarded. The abstract submission deadline is Sept. 27. Instructions for abstract submission can be found on the symposium website.
The half-day event is free to all JHU faculty and trainees; however, presentations will only be from trainees who identify as URMs per NIH guidelines. Abstract submission is not required for symposium attendance, but registration is required. The registration deadline is Nov. 19.
