An expansion of the university's child care voucher program means that more JHU families can get assistance in 2020 if they meet the income requirements and submit an application. The deadline to apply has been extended to Nov. 1.
Starting in January, vouchers of $1,000, $2,500, or $5,000 per family will be available to eligible full-time employees of the university. The amount of support is based on a family's adjusted gross income and number of children in care. Vouchers can now be used for child care centers or in-home care. Details are available on Hub at Work.
Employees who have a child under the age of 6 should review the guidelines and application materials on the HR website . After the Nov. 1 deadline for vouchers and until the next enrollment period, applications will be accepted only from new employees and individuals who have a qualifying life event, such as a birth, adoption, or marriage.
The voucher program is also open to postdoctoral fellows, full-time doctoral or medical students, residents, and house staff. Those groups do not have a specific enrollment period, but people who apply after Jan. 1 will receive a prorated amount for that year.
