STEP (Special-Education Teen Empowerment Project) is recruiting volunteers

Special-Education Teen Empowerment Project's (STEP's) aim is to provide high school students with learning/developmental/cognitive disabilities in the Baltimore Public School System (who do not attend an exclusively special needs school) with individualized educational support that they may not otherwise receive. Currently, STEP is partnered with Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School (10 minutes away from Homewood Campus) to provide weekly one-on-one tutoring/mentorship sessions for students in the special education program. This includes working with students on subjects they are struggling with (in particular, raising their reading level), resume/interview aid, helping students apply to Baltimore-sponsored job programs, and forming friendships.
