On Earth Day 2019, Johns Hopkins University announced the creation of the Sustainability Leadership Council, a cross-university body to coordinate and catalyze efforts that will promote environmental sustainability within operations, academic programs, research projects, and community engagement.
The SLC will advise the provost and JHU senior leadership on a wide range of issues surrounding sustainability and climate change and will elevate the discussion of sustainability at Johns Hopkins to reduce our collective environmental footprint while mobilizing larger processes of change with our partners.
The SLC will be composed of faculty, staff, and students from across the university's schools, divisions, and environmentally focused student groups.
Representatives will serve on four subcommittees:
- Academic
- Research
- Operations
- Engagement
To learn more about the SLC and the mission of each subcommittee, visit the SLC webpage.
To apply to join the SLC or to nominate others, please contact sustainability@jhu.edu by Sept. 5. Nominations will be reviewed during the early fall semester, and nominees will be contacted soon afterward.
