Blackboard, SIS will now pull preferred name information from myJH

Johns Hopkins University continues efforts to increase support for the use of preferred names in university databases.

Starting with the 2019 fall semester, Blackboard and the Student Information System will pull preferred name information directly from myJH. Prior to this update, students set preferred names in myJH, Blackboard, and SIS separately.

Students who have previously only set a preferred name in SIS or Blackboard may have to reset their name in myJH following the update.

Updates made this past spring enabled JHU students, staff, and faculty to designate a preferred name on myJH profiles, a change that reflects the university's commitment to inclusion.

The Student Affairs website has more information on the systems and databases that support the use of preferred names.
