Yakoboski is a member of the American Economic Association and the National Academy of Social Insurance. He serves on the board of the Journal of Retirement, the editorial advisory board of Benefits Quarterly, the research committee of the Insured Retirement Institute, and the Society of Actuaries' Committee on Post-Retirement Needs and Risks. A graduate of Virginia Tech, he earned his doctorate in economics from the University of Rochester.
