Register for the Jonathan A. Jarzyna Memorial Poker Tournament

In 2011 Hopkins alum Jon Jarzyna, KSAS '97, died as the result of an undiagnosed heart condition; he was just shy of his 38th birthday. After his wife and friends, two of Jon's biggest loves were animals and playing poker. As a way to honor him and keep his memory alive, seven years ago, his friend and classmate Matt Zaft, KSAS '97, decided to sponsor an annual Jonathan A. Jarzyna Memorial No Limit Texas Hold'em Tournament during Johns Hopkins Alumni Weekend.

This year, the tournament will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, April 5, in Salon A of Charles Commons. It is a $100 buy-in for alumni ($20 for undergrads), and 100 percent of the entry fees go to the local Maryland SPCA as a donation in Jon's memory. First place wins $750, second place wins $500, third place wins $250, and fourth place wins $100. Food and drink will also be provided to all participants.

Register on the Alumni Weekend website.
