Centro SOL, the Urban Health Institute, and the American Academy of Pediatrics Maryland Chapter present the fourth Latinx Health Conference, "Mind Your Health: Community-centered Solutions to Mental Health Issues."
The event will take place on March 19 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 600 S. Conkling St. in Baltimore. Tickets can be reserved in advance online.
Topics discussed will include community solutions to address mental health issues, acculturation, protective factors, disparities in treatment and prevention of mental health issues among the Latinx community, and mental health as a public health problem.
Keynote speakers:
Margarita AlegrÃa, chief of the Disparities Research Unit, Massachusetts General Hospital; Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, Harvard Medical School. Alegria is a renowned researcher on mental health topics.
David E. Hayes-Bautista will talk about the impact of demographic shift in the mental health outcomes. Dr. Hayes-Bautista is currently a Distinguished Professor of Medicine and Director of the Center for the Study of Latino Health and Culture at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
