Often, people do not know where to turn when dealing with a situation where a senior may be in need of assistance. Fortunately, many programs and services are available to promote the health and independence of older people. This pragmatic course explores the wide range of public and private programs for the elderly. For each of the program areas—income security, nutrition, social protection, recreation, housing, health insurance, health services, and employment—students learn what programs are available, what they have to offer, how they can be accessed, and who is eligible.
