Support groups offered for LGBTQ students

Depending on participants' needs, various support groups will be created for LGBTQ students. The goal is to offer one group for students who are interested in discussing their gender identity and one group for students who are exploring their sexuality. However, if there are not enough people to form these two groups, participants will be consolidated and provided one group that meets the needs of both communities together - gender identity and sexual orientation.

Topics discussed might include coming out, exploring gender identity and/or sexuality, negotiating social interactions (e.g., with family, friends, roommates, professors, etc.), conflicts with religion, process of transitioning, and exploring dating and romantic relationships. Ultimately, the subjects covered will be those specific to the desires of the group members.

The group(s) will meet weekly, for the semester, at the Counseling Center, on Wednesdays and/or Thursdays from 5:30 - 7pm. Group is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.
