To meet increasing demand for evening Blue Jay Shuttle services, JHU Transportation Services has expanded the "Brody Shuffle" van service, which started running on the new schedule yesterday, Sunday, Jan. 27. The expansion of Brody Shuffle, which takes riders to requested destinations from the Brody Learning Commons, combined with the existing Blue and Pink Route shuttles, means that at least one Blue Jay Shuttle will depart Brody roughly every 15 minutes between 5:45 p.m. and 3:15 a.m.
The Brody Shuffle now starts at 5:45 p.m. and departs Brody Learning Commons every 30 minutes at 15 and 45 minutes past each hour. Starting at 11:15 p.m., departures occur every 15 minutes (on the hour and at 15, 30, and 45 minutes past) until 3:15 a.m. Blue and Pink Route shuttles will continue to depart Brody on the current schedule of 5:50 p.m., 6:25 p.m., and, starting at 7 p.m., on the hour and half hour until 11 p.m.
With this change, Night Ride pickups from Brody Learning Commons, Milton S. Eisenhower Library, and adjacent locations are no longer granted. Instead, passengers requesting rides from these locations will be directed to the next appropriate Blue, Pink, or Brody Shuffle departure.
Transportation Services says running more scheduled shuttles from Brody means that the Night Ride program will be able to focus on other locations and, with support from Lyft during peak demand, meet its goal of picking up all Night Ride requesters within 10 minutes. Students have also expressed a preference for scheduled departures so they can plan their time.
More shuttle information is on the Transportation Services website. A Night Ride is available on demand starting at 5:30 p.m. in a defined service area around the Homewood campus. It can be requested using the Transloc app or by phone at 410-516-8700.
