Community Engagement: An Important Part of Work-Life Effectiveness

Giving back to the community can be immensely rewarding, leading to a more fulfilling life. Engagement might come in the form of making a financial contribution to a cause that is important to an employee, volunteering time at an organization, or providing an in-kind donation to benefit families in need.

The Office of Work, Life and Engagement sponsors several programs that provide faculty and staff with a diverse range of opportunities to give back, particularly to the communities surrounding Johns Hopkins campuses in Baltimore. Programs include the Johns Hopkins Neighborhood Fund, the Adopt-a-Family/Adopt-a-Senior holiday program, and Johns Hopkins Takes Time for Baltimore. This workshop presents details about these and other community outreach opportunities that are available for both individual and departmental participation.
