QPR: Suicide prevention training for faculty and staff

The Counseling Center is offering QPR—Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training to all Homewood and Peabody faculty and staff. The program teaches ways to identify suicidal risk and three straightforward steps that can be used to intervene: Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR). Faculty and staff members are in key positions to identify students at risk and assist them in getting the help they need. This training raises awareness about suicide in college students, increases comfort level in dealing with this important issue, and helps make our campus safer.

The 90-minute QPR training will be offered specifically for faculty and staff on these dates:

  • Monday, March 19, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, at the Counseling Center, 3003 N. Charles St., Suite S-200
  • Friday, April 13, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., location TBD

To attend this training, sign up on the Counseling Center page of the Homewood Student Affairs website or visit the Counseling Center website and click on the "Attend/Request a Workshop" button on the left side of the homepage.

If you would like to schedule a QPR workshop for your department, Counseling Center staff will come to you and your team for the training. Submit your request online via the Counseling Center website.
