The Institute for Data Intensive Engineering and Science, known as IDIES, invites faculty and research scientists to submit proposals to the 2018 IDIES Seed Funding Program. The goal of this initiative is to provide seed funding for data-intensive computing projects that (a) will involve areas relevant to IDIES and JHU institutional research priorities; (b) are multidisciplinary; and (c) build ideas and teams with good prospects for successful proposals to attract external research support by leveraging IDIES intellectual and physical infrastructure.
Eligible applicants are faculty and research scientists from multiple (at least two) departments at Johns Hopkins University who can serve as principal and co-investigators, and who have not previously been selected to receive an IDIES Seed Funding Program award for the same collaboration and/or project in the past.
The total budget request for a faculty team may not exceed $25,000. The project period is up to one year beginning March 1, 2018.
Proposals are due by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 31. Please upload all required documents to the IDIES website as a single PDF document and email a copy of the budget (in Excel) and budget justification to the administrative staff at idies-grants@lists.johnshopkins.edu.
