In spring 2018, the Office of Sustainability will host a multicampus Lab Freezer Challenge. From Feb. 1 to March 31, researchers and lab users across JHU campuses will be encouraged to properly maintain their freezers. Good maintenance includes defrosting, cleaning coils, cleaning out old samples and items, and completing an inventory. It hopes to build a culture of conservation and consciousness for greater safety and sustainability within laboratory environments.
The office is currently recruiting champions who will help "rally researchers" by encouraging their peers to register for the challenge. All champions will receive a Hopkins Eco-Smart T-shirt, toolkit of promotional materials, and other support and guidance from the Office of Sustainability. Sign up online to be a champion today!
Go to the My Green Lab Freezer Challenge website to learn more about the spring initiative. Further details will be shared in the coming weeks. For comments or questions, or to learn more about being a champion, please contact Jason Mathias at jmathias@jhu.edu.
