Suicide prevention walkathon on Sunday

This walkathon is the culmination of our National Service Week programming around the topic "Suicide prevention on campus." Alpha Phi Omega (APO) is bringing awareness to mental health and suicide prevention efforts through partnerships with the Counseling Center, Stressbusters, A Place to Talk, Preventative Education and Empowerment for Peers (PEEPs), and Student Government Association (SGA). APO has also been tabling on the Breezeway all week to invite Hopkins students to sign the "bethe1to" pledge from the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline. The "bethe1to" pledge teaches students five steps to help someone in crisis.

Students can also read about the state of suicide in the U.S. from a recent article written by Olivia Chan on Hippocrates Medical Review's website here: http://hippocratesmedreview.org/the-current-state-of-suicide-in-america/.
