Professional development modules open for enrollment

Enroll in the fall 2017 Professional Development Program modules to further your professional skills; the seven-week modules are open to all Hopkins graduate students and postdoctoral fellows

Enroll in "Science Outreach: Communicating Science to the General Public" (EN.663.643), offered in the second half of the fall semester. The class meets on Tuesdays from 3-5:30 p.m. This course teaches students to communicate effectively with a non-specialized audience including the "voting public", teachers and high school students.

Enroll in "Building Effective Posters and Slides" (EN.663.615), offered in the second half of the fall semester. The class meets on Thursdays from 4:30-7:00 p.m. This class will teach you how to better present ideas visually so that audiences understand and engage with your topic.

Enroll in "Improving Presentations and Skills" (EN.663.645), offered in the second half of the fall semester. The class meets on Thursdays from 4:00PM – 6:30PM. This course is designed to help scientists and engineers improve their oral presentation skills in a practice-intensive environment.

Enroll in "Leading Change" (EN.663.671), offered in the second half of the fall semester. This class meets on Wednesdays 3-5:30 p.m. The primary format for learning in this course is seminar style with reading, researching and sharing of information as well as structured, experiential activities designed to build skills through practice and interpersonal exchange. Class time is devoted to discussion, observation, feedback, additional exercises and presentation. Additionally, participants engage in reflection and explanation of their considerations as the course progresses.
