The office of the Homewood Institutional Review Board has debuted a revised and upgraded HIRB website. The site, which was redesigned by the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences Office of Communications and Marketing, is the central location for resources to guide investigators through the HIRB application and review process of primarily social, behavioral, and educational research proposals.
HIRB is responsible for reviewing all research projects involving human participants conducted by students, faculty, and staff at the Applied Physics Laboratory, Carey Business School, Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, Peabody Institute, School of Education, and Whiting School of Engineering. The schools of Medicine, Nursing, and Public Health have separate IRBs.
The more-user-friendly site also features information about current and future changes to federal regulations.
HIRB staff are available to provide on-site trainings and presentations on the human subjects research approval process at Hopkins. Contact the office at 410-516-6580 to request a representative for your next class, department, or divisional meeting.
