The Counseling Center is offering QPR—Suicide Prevention Gatekeeper Training to all Homewood faculty and staff. The program will teach ways to identify suicidal risk and three straightforward steps that can be used to intervene: Question, Persuade, and Refer (QPR). Faculty and staff members are in a key position to identify students at risk and assist them in getting the help they need. This training will raise awareness about suicide in college students, increase comfort level in dealing with this important issue, and help make our campus safer.
There are several options for participating in this 90-minute program. QPR training will be offered on the following dates:
- Tuesday, Aug. 8, from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m. at the Counseling Center, 3003 N. Charles St., Suite S-200
- Friday, Sept. 15, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, location TBD
- Thursday, Oct. 12, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., location TBD
