Rangers performed scouting, security, and raiding missions during the French and Indian War (1754-63) and the Revolutionary War (1775-83). Copying Indian dress and tactics, they operated both independently as well as in conjunction with local colonial militias and regular Army units. The lecture will describe and illustrate the Rangers' origins, tactics, equipment, weapons, and operations, using illustrations, videos, and actual examples of Ranger equipment and weapons.
