This course takes one step back in time, starting with cave art and the earliest art objects created by the first people. Art historical terms such as Paleolithic, Neolithic and Mesolithic will be defined. Ancient civilizations from the Near East, Egypt and the Pharaohs, the Aegean World, and Ancient Greece and Rome will also be discussed. This is a course for art lovers who wish to learn more about the legacy of the mentioned ancient civilizations covering architecture, marble and bronze sculpture, paintings, mosaics, pottery, and jewelry. The course uses a PowerPoint presentation rich in images that invite questions and discussion in a relaxed environment.
