An Idea Lab $20,000 grant awardee, Hop Back Home hopes to bring together undergraduate, graduate, and faculty organizations to assist previously incarcerated Baltimore citizens ("returning citizens"). Our mission is to deliver relevant community experiences to the Johns Hopkins volunteers while bringing life-changing opportunities to returning citizens. To achieve this goal, we are collaborating with University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law and People Lacking Ample Shelter and Employment Project (Project PLASE) to provide the returning citizens with a safe and propitious transitional housing space.
We are recruiting new members for the upcoming semester. Members will gain critical interpersonal skills, community service, connections with health leaders at Hopkins, and an opportunity to make meaningful change in the Baltimore community.
