The Students for Socioeconomic Equity aims to facilitate the transition of low-income students into higher education and promote increased awareness on issues of socioeconomic class on campus. As a largely invisible but incredibly important population, low-income students face a myriad of social and academic obstacles, often aggravating what would otherwise be a smooth transition into college. Our goal is to both spread awareness about issues of socioeconomic inequity and support students adversely affected by those issues on campus. We aim to accomplish this goal by hosting discussions relating to this topic and engaging in on-campus advocacy, including developing and administering professor sensitivity training for Homewood faculty.
