To make the grant application process a little easier and less expensive, Live Near Your Work has scheduled the Neighborhood Housing Services counseling agency to come to Johns Hopkins for a full-day workshop at no cost to the homebuyer. That's a $100 savings for each homebuyer!
NHS counselors will lead the one-day workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 3, at Johns Hopkins at Eastern. After attending the one-day workshop, homebuyers will:
- Gather necessary financial documents
- Provide the documents to Neighborhood Housing Services
- Attend a one-on-one appointment with a housing counselor on Friday, June 10, at Johns Hopkins at Eastern
- Receive their homeownership counseling certificate, which is required when applying for a LNYW grant
If homebuyers are unable to attend the one-day workshop on June 3 or a one-on-one appointment with a housing counselor on Friday, June 10, there are other options to receive a homeownership counseling certificate. The $100 savings is available only to employees who attend the one-day workshop on campus.
LNYW grant amounts are set to change starting July 1. However, a soon-to-be-announced opportunity for Johns Hopkins employees will increase the home-buying grants to an amount unlikely to be seen again. Attending the homeownership counseling on campus will help prepare homebuyers for this exciting opportunity.

Registration is required and seats are limited. Parking at Eastern is free in the visitor lot. The Johns Hopkins Shuttle makes frequent runs between campuses. More information on shuttle schedules is on the Transportation Services website.
