Help empower homeless survivors of domestic violence

Shine Foundation is a nonprofit startup that partners with domestic violence shelters to assist homeless survivors of domestic violence achieve financial independence. The Johns Hopkins chapter is looking for dedicated and creative students, faculty, and staff from the Hopkins community who would like to join Shine's 2015–16 cohort of volunteers.

Past projects have included:

  • Zumba and Savings: a program that incorporated savings tips and goal setting into Zumba workout classes

  • Money and Mimosas Night: a fun-filled financial literacy night where volunteers engaged survivors in discussions on resolving their financial concerns
