Final paving of Charles Street began May 11 with the east service lane between 29th Street and University Parkway. For the next two weeks, pedestrians and drivers will be affected by DAILY CHANGES to roadway areas, crossings, and parking restrictions during paving operations in this section of Charles Street. Pedestrians should also be aware that immediately prior to paving, the roadway areas are treated with a liquid asphalt "tack coat," and pedestrians should cross the roadways at crosswalks to avoid getting the liquid on their shoes and clothes.
Additionally, the sign installers are continuing to install No Parking and other signs along the roadway, including temporary parking restrictions on traffic barrels to designate No Parking zones in preparation of the paving.
Parking violators will be towed if they are impeding the progress of the paving operations.
