The webinar, hosted by the Center for Talented Youth, is from 7 to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 18.
Learn about the often-overlooked history of same-sex marriage activism from the 1950s to the present in this one-hour interactive webinar designed for shared learning by parents/guardians and their children in grades 7 and above. The webinar also covers early legal petitions, the role of the AIDS epidemic in the marriage rights movement, and case studies of significant activists. Students and their parents will gain a better understanding of the history of the same-sex marriage movement in the U.S. and will be encouraged to continue these discussions at home.
The presenter is Julie R. Enszer, a PhD candidate in the Department of Women's Studies, University of Maryland.
