The Summer Teaching Institute is a three-day residential teaching program for doctoral students and postdoctoral fellows. The goal of STI is to advance the development of university-level instructors by enhancing their classroom teaching and assessment skills. The program will encompass presentations, group work, active learning exercises, tools, and resources. Participants will get to know one another as a cohort and work together in a learning community composed of fellow future faculty preparing for their initial teaching assignments.
Participants will learn about pedagogical innovations and research in undergraduate education. Summer Teaching Institute faculty will share teaching methods that help define learning objectives and engage students in active problem-solving and discussion. Participants will develop teaching artifacts for their teaching portfolios. The Summer Institute will take place from May 27 through May 29.
