East Baltimore emergency road closures

Dear Faculty, Staff and Students:

The university has been informed of an emergency closure of North Washington Street between Madison Street and Eager Street for major storm drainage repairs. In addition, Eager Street will be closed to traffic between Wolfe and Chester streets.

The street closures will affect all local transportation and traffic, including Charm City Circulator and MTA bus routes.

This emergency closure will start Sunday, Feb. 15, at 9 a.m. and is anticipated to last six months.

Access to the Washington Garage will not be affected. People can enter and exit as usual. However, drivers exiting the Washington Garage onto Washington Street will have to turn left onto Madison Street as Washington Street will be closed north of Madison.

For those who park in the Ashland Garage, access via the Washington Street entrance will be restricted. Please use the north entrance by taking the alley off Ashland Avenue. (The alley is between the apartment building and Walgreens.) Please remember that Wolfe Street is one way going south.

To exit the Ashland Garage, please also use the north entrance. When exiting, take a left and follow the alley back to Ashland Avenue. We expect all exiting traffic will be directed to Wolfe Street.

For drive-through traffic, the Baltimore Department of Transportation will post detour signs. Please heed all signage. For updates on the Charm City Circulator and MTA bus routes, please refer to http://charmcitycirculator.com or http://mta.maryland.gov for additional routing information. Please be patient during the closure.

Starting at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 15, Washington Street will be closed to through traffic between Ashland and Chase streets with detours in effect. In addition, Eager Street will be closed to through traffic between Wolfe and Chester streets.

Recommended detours include:
