The Center for Africana Studies is hosting its second Critical Thought Collective session of the semester. The topic will be the acclaimed feature Atlantic article by Ta-Nehisi Coates: "The Case for Reparations" (May 21, 2014; http://www.theatlantic.com/features/archive/2014/05/the-case-for-reparations/361631). This will an open, frank, and likely impassioned discussion on the matter of African Americans' struggle to secure private property (among other things) as an outgrowth of the same racism that once enslaved them. Please come prepared to openly speak, debate, and wrestle as needed. We invite any and all to participate. The date of this session is Oct. 31 from 2 to 4 p.m. in Gilman 308.
Please read the article in advance.
