SOURCE Baltimore Week: Oct. 6 to 11

Early every academic year, SOURCE hosts Baltimore Week—a celebration of the Baltimore community through a community-service lens. This year, we'll host a slate of events that culminate in our Tri-School Day of Service on Saturday, Oct.11. Other important events you'll want to mark on your calendars:

Fall Canned Food Drive—Monday, Oct. 6 – Friday, Oct. 17
Help local populations who experience food insecurity by donating unopened and unexpired canned food items! Donation bin locations: JHSPH E1002 and the first floor student lounge; SON lobby entrance; SOM AMEB lobby (by stairs).

SOURCE JHU/Baltimore History Online Module Celebration and Panel Discussion—Tuesday, Oct. 7, 12:15 p.m. Are you curious about the history of JHU and how it intertwines with the history of Baltimore?
Are you interested in learning more about how this history impacts our work as health professionals?

Join SOURCE for a special event to celebrate the launch of the series of Online Module recently developed with a variety of community partners, faculty, staff, and students. During this session, we will host a panel of several individuals featured in the JHU/Baltimore history module. For additional information, click here.

Andrew DeVos: "Understanding Baltimore: Urban Life, Race, Class and the City Past & Present" on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 3:30 p.m. at JHSPH W2015 Andrew DeVos will share his doctoral research on the historical forces that have shaped Baltimore and many other American cities. His presentation focuses on aspects of structural racism and how these restrictions, coupled with economic change, have concentrated poverty in particular areas of our cities. SOURCE East Baltimore Community Tour on Friday, Oct. 10, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Departs from JHSPH Lobby Learn more about hyper-local community partner sites on this engaging tour! You'll hear firsthand from SOURCE community consultant Glenn Ross on a range of issues impacting your East Baltimore community. Happy Hour at JHSPH —Pick up your free Tri-School Day of Service T-shirt on Friday, Oct. 10, 4:30–5:30 p.m., in the JHSPH Student Lounge, 1st Floor After you sign up for fall Tri-School Day of Service, be sure to pick up your T-shirt in advance at the Happy Hour event in the Student Lounge at JHSPH! Bring a canned food item to donate to the SOURCE Canned Food Drive and trade it for a beer (or beverage of your choice)!
