This course is designed to offer a cultural and general history of the ancient science of yoga. The course is based on teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads, as well as traditions of Raja, Hatha, and Tantra Yoga, along with other cultural influences of India. Selections from the various classical texts will be studied as handouts.
This course does not offer yoga practice on the mat but will include aspects of yoga practice.
