Apply to the Social Innovation Lab

The Social Innovation Lab at Johns Hopkins University is an incubator for innovative nonprofits, mission-driven companies, and disruptive technologies and inventions tackling pressing social issues in Baltimore and beyond. Through seed funding, expert mentorship, office space, and personalized trainings, SIL helps individuals transform novel ideas into scalable solutions that make a measurable impact.

SIL is now recruiting its next cohort and will accept applications until noon on Oct. 1. Up to 12 applicants will be accepted into the new cohort and each will receive:
+Seed funding of $1,000 upon selection, and the potential to receive additional funding up to $10,000 based on progress of the venture;
+Access to an extensive network of mentors including issue experts and experienced entrepreneurs;
+Personalized workshops and trainings providing the essential skills needed for success as a social entrepreneur;
+Dedicated office and meeting space in downtown Baltimore;
+Opportunity to pitch potential funders, investors, and supporters at SIL events including the annual Demo Day in April 2015

Applications will be evaluated based on leadership ability of the applicant, boldness and originality of the idea, financial feasibility and sustainability, and more.

To be eligible: +Applications may be submitted by full- or part-time Johns Hopkins University students (undergraduate or graduate), postdocs/fellows, staff, and faculty.
+Applicants can be in the idea, development, or pilot/prototype stage; and may be nonprofit, for-profit, or not yet incorporated.
+If already in development or operating, the venture may not have been active for more than two years.
