Homewood campus blood drive, Sept. 16 and 17

September is Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Month. According to the American Red Cross, the disease affects 80,000 African Americans in the U.S. Individuals with this disease are at risk of immense pain, organ and tissue damage, and stroke and often require regular transfusions, some as often as every four to six weeks.

Save a life, give blood, and make the Hopkins Hero Pledge. The drive will be held Tuesday, Sept. 16, 8 a.m.–2 p.m., and Wednesday, Sept. 17, 12:30–5:30 p.m., in the Glass Pavilion at Levering Hall on the Homewood campus.
