Volunteer mentors needed for PRAISE Saturday program

The PRAISE College Readiness Program for Boys is an academic and cultural enrichment program in Baltimore that works with secondary students on Saturdays during the school year. The curriculum is diverse and intensive, concentrating on analytical skills, reading comprehension, public speaking, writing, personal and social responsibility, entrepreneurship, and academic excellence. Courses include areas such as African cultures, technology, community development, SAT prep, college readiness, mathematics, literature, arts, and much more. Classes, program, and mentoring provide students with opportunities for skill development designed to improve aptitude in writing, reading, and mathematics.

The program is located at the Johns Hopkins University School of Education Building at 2800 North Charles St.

A program orientation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Saturday Sept. 20, in Room 116 of the School of Education building.

Mentors will be needed on the following dates this semester: Sept. 27, Oct. 4, Nov. 1 and 15, and Dec. 6 , 13, and 20.
