The Johns Hopkins LNYW program, in partnership with the Monument McElderry Fayette Revitalization Plan Board of Governors, invites you to take a walking tour of the C.A.R.E. and McElderry Park communities. These communities, just east of Johns Hopkins Hospital and the Bloomberg School of Public Health, are seen as an emerging market in Baltimore City. C.A.R.E. and McElderry Park are family-oriented communities with tremendous assets like affordable two- and three-story row homes; five community gardens with additional green spaces; options for schools, daycare, and after-school programming; and active community associations. The area provides close proximity to Patterson Park, the Highlandtown farmers market, libraries, Butchers Hill, Canton, and Fells Point, along with easy access to Routes 40, 95, 695, and 83. Participants will have the opportunity to tour a diverse pool of homes, learn more about both communities, and hear about the list of housing incentives available to pair with the LNYW program. You will be guided by community leaders who are a mix of both old and new residents along the way as you learn about the ongoing revitalization that is taking place in C.A.R.E. and McElderry Park.
Attend this or any 2014 walking tour event and you will receive an additional $1,000 toward the down payment/closing costs of a home in the A, B, or C target areas. (Buyer must settle on or before June 30, 2015.)
