A 18-member search committee has been appointed to help lead a global search for the next dean of the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, JHU President Ron Daniels announced in a message to the university community today.
The committee will be chaired by Provost Ray Jayawardhana and includes representatives from across the university. Ellen J. MacKenzie, an internationally renowned public health practitioner who has served since October 2017 as the Bloomberg School's 11th dean, announced last month that she would step down from her role as dean when her term concludes at the end of June.
The committee will seek to identify a successor "to build on the Bloomberg School's trailblazing legacy and set its future vision for the continued pursuit of a healthier world," Daniels wrote. "Our next leader will work alongside our exceptional faculty, students, and staff to advance the Bloomberg School's leadership in public health research, education, and practice."
The process will be aided by the search firm Park Square Executive Search, which will work closely with the committee to identify candidates. Feedback and confidential nominations can be shared with the firm via email at jonathan@parksquare.com and mburger@parksquare.com.
