The Johns Hopkins football team continues to earn high marks heading into the 2019 season, with D3football.com recently ranking the Blue Jay No. 6 in its preseason poll. It's the highest Hopkins has ever been ranked by the website in the preseason.
Two other publications, Lindy's and Street and Smith's, have JHU ranked No. 5 entering the season.
Johns Hopkins posted a 12-2 record, won a 10th consecutive Centennial Conference title, and advanced to the NCAA semifinals for the first time in school history in 2018. The Blue Jays finished the 2018 season ranked fifth in both the AFCA and D3football.com polls.
Hopkins has won at least nine games in each of the past eight years, and the program's 64 wins over the past six season are the fourth-highest total among all Division III teams.
The Blue Jays open the 2019 season on Sept. 5 at Randolph-Macon at 7 p.m. The Yellow Jackets advanced to the second round of the NCAA playoffs last season and are No. 24 in the D3football.com preseason poll.
