Family crests, fake bling, political messages, and homages to Friends and Grey's Anatomy—there's no end to the creativity Johns Hopkins grads used in adorning their graduation caps Thursday, carrying on the commencement tradition of decorated mortarboards.
Many used country symbols or flags to indicate where they're from—or where they're heading next after Hopkins. The feminist nod of "Nevertheless she persisted" also appeared upon many caps, while others quoted movies, songs, or TV shows.
Check out a few of the more memorable caps in the gallery above.
