Weekend picks: Johns Hopkins events roundup for Nov. 17-19

Here are a few things you can do this weekend before Thanksgiving

As things wind down before Thanksgiving break, here is a (very) short list of campus events worth checking out this weekend.

A GOOD CAUSE

New playground fundraiser
Saturday, 5–9 p.m. | Canèla in Fells Point
Commodore John Rodgers Elementary/Middle School, a JHU Tutorial Project site school, lost their playground due to a fire this past summer, and it has been devastating for their students. Join them in celebrating the launch of their Giving Tuesday campaign by stopping by the neighborhood-based coffee shop and bar on E. Lombard St. The cost of entry is $25, and 100% of sales will go directly to the New Playground Fund. In addition, a percentage of sales from beverages that night will also go to the fund.

ATHLETICS

Women's basketball home-opener
Saturday at 2 p.m. | Goldfard Gym
Cheer on the Blue Jays as they take on the Lynchburg Hornets in the Mike Durgala Tournament.

GOOD OL' FUN

CSSA Modified Car Show
Friday, 3–5 p.m. | The Beach
The Johns Hopkins Chinese Students and Scholars Association hope to get you hyped for the holidays with a modified car show. There will be a showcase of modified cars and electric music to stir up your holiday spirit. Need more convincing? There will also be free donuts and coffee giveaways. Done.
